This is sermon is based on the Gospel lesson, Matthew 22:15-22. The lessons occured a few days before the Holy week, just before He was crucified.
Matthew recalls 3 symbolic acts – The coming in to Jerulasem, the cleansing of the temple and the cursing of the fig tree. Following these symbolic acts, Jesus was challenged by the Pharisees and then they later sent their desciples to ask Jesus if it was lawful to pay taxes to Ceasar. In this sermon, Fr. Jim digs deep into what is beneath this question.
